I’m very happy to announce my new single “Twilight”, a collaboration with Johan Becker from Secret Service! The maxi-single will be released as a limited edition vinyl in 600 copies, of which the 400 first will be numbered and signed by me. The 400 first can be ordered from my Bandcamp store, starting now:
kebu.bandcamp.com
The maxi-single contains three tracks:
1. Twilight – a cover of Electric Light Orchestra’s classic, with Johan on vocals
2. Future Friday – my recent instrumental single and the title track of the documentary Kebu – Space for Synths
3. Stand Up – a brand-new song that Johan and I wrote and recorded together
Twilight is one of the songs that first opened my eyes to the magical world of synthesizers — I still remember hearing it as a kid on one of my dad’s old cassettes that he had recorded from the radio.
The idea to record Twilight came quite suddenly — actually the same day Johan was flying home from our recording session! I quickly created a backing track, and Johan listened, learned the song on the spot, and we managed to record the vocals just in time before I had to drive him to the airport. We were both amazed by how well it turned out — especially since it’s not an easy song!
Both Stand Up and Future Friday will appear on my upcoming album Urban Skies, which will be released in 2026, while Twilight will be exclusive to this maxi-single release.
Johan and I have talked for years about doing something together. We first collaborated over ten years ago, when he wrote lyrics for my track Just Another Space Odyssey and I made an arrangement of his song In the Heat of the Night. So it feels great that we finally managed to make it happen — and I couldn’t be happier with the result!
Twilight will be available on vinyl and digital platforms on November 28. I will start shipping the vinyls a week before the release.
